How to prevent and remove viruses and other malware

What is computer virus?

A computer virus is a small software program that runs without user permission and harm the computer and data of computer and other computer in network .

Computer viruses are frequently spread by usb flash drives or by email attachment. Therefore, you must never open an email attachment unless you know who sent the message or you are expecting the email attachment. Viruses can be anything.

Types of viruses

Malware: Spyware can install on your computer without your knowledge. These programs can change your computer’s configuration or collect advertising data and personal information.

Worms: A worm is computer code that spreads without user interaction. Most worms begin as email attachments that infect a computer when they're opened

Trojan horses: A trojan horse is a malicious software program that hides inside other programs. It enters a computer hidden inside a legitimate program, such as a screen saver. Then it puts code into the operating system that enables a hacker to access the infected computer

Spyware: Spyware can install on your computer without your knowledge. These programs can change your computer’s configuration or collect advertising data and personal information.

How to prevent it from viruses

1. Turn on windows firewall so that unwanted application cant access your internet directly and can not send your data over internet 

 

2. Install Antivirus Software and keep it updated. You can install following antivirus software which are freely available over internet.

1)       Microsoft Security Essentials.

2)       Windows defender

3)       Avast Antivirus

4)       AVG Free

 

3. Turn off auto play of all plug and play devices which will save you 50% from viruses

       1) Go To start > run type "Gpedit.msc" without quotes and hit enter. 

       2) Expand Administrative Templates >Windows Components >  Autoplay 

       3) Then double  click "Turn off Autoplay" and select enable .

 

 

 

4. Always open pendrive using windows explorer instead of double clicking on it or scan it using antivirus and then open it . Which will save you to run the autorun.ini file.
